| DESCRIPTION (english): | Herbert Hofbauer's distinctive creation was the first 'chopper' paratrike and, although it is no longer unique, none of its rivals can boast anything unusual as regards the powerplant. The Air-Chopper, by contrast, can be ordered with the normal Rotax gearbox (main photo) or the Coax-P optional contra-rotating prop (inset), intended to cancel out any rotational effects. Control on the ground and during take-off is achieved with handlebars and twist-grip. Once in the sky, the aircraft steers using foot bars. Two in-house canopies are available, the rectangular Cruiser 26 Elan and the elliptical Chiron. |
| DESCRIPTION (french): | La création la plus remarquable d’Herbert Hofbauer fut le premier paratrike chopper et bien que le concept ne soit plus unique, aucun de ses rivaux ne peut rien revendiquer de commun en matière de motorisation. L’Air-Chopper, par exemple, peut être commandé avec la boîte de vitesse normale de Rotax (photo principale) ou avec le Coax-P, hélice à contre-rotations (encart), qui supprime l’effet de couple. Le contrôle au sol et au décollage est réalisé avec des guidons. Une fois dans le ciel, l’aéronef se dirige en employant des barres à pied. Deux auvents sont fournis, le Cruiser 26, rectangulaire, et le Chiron de Sycon, en forme d’ellipse. |

Obwohl inzwischen oft kopiert, kann kaum ein anderes Modell vergleichbare Optionen bieten, wie beispielsweise das optionale koaxiale Getriebe für zwei gegenläufige Propeller, die die Drehmomentkräfte kompensieren (siehe kleines Foto). Am Boden und in der Startphase wird das Air-Chopper Trike von Hand gesteuert, im Reiseflug mit den Füssen. Zwei Gleitschirmflächen sind erhältlich: Cruiser 26 von Elan und die elliptische Fläche Chiron von Sycon. |
